Feature redesign
For Office Depot Business Solutions customers, buying within their negotiated preferred product list is the key value-add to working with us. But an aging search engine and a busy search results user interface was getting in the way of end-user buyers finding the best in-contract items to suit their needs. In short, our search was failing them.
While our engineering team went to work evaluating and upgrading to a new third-party search engine, I redesigned the search and browse experience for our business customers. I started first by creating the Technology Insiders Program, a customer feedback program that would allow me to get designs in front of customers before we implemented. By getting their direct input, I was able to design something tailored for their procurement needs.
My process included defining the jobs of each of the search results elements: product cards, catalog landing pages, filters and facets, predictive search, etc. I divided each main page into informational zones and meticulously crafted the information architecture of each element. I also supplemented our customer feedback with traditional eCommerce site UX guidelines from Baymard.

Although I did not get to see this project through to completion because I moved our to our Varis business unit, all of the designs are my own. The designs were also used as a jumping off point to update the Office Depot consumer site.
